Wall Street – Jack Dean

Jack Dean’s Stagecraft released only audience proven material, Wall Street is no exception. You display a number of stock certificates for several fictitious companies and varying amounts of shares for each certificate. The certificates are places face up in two different piles. A participant is asked to choose either one of the two top certificates. This is repeated until he has chosen five, and he places these into a portfolio. A second volunteer is asked to blindly select his stock, so the two stacks are turned face down and he is asked to select one of the top certificates, again repeated four more time to built his portfolio. Now both spectators are asked to determine in which companies they own stock and how many shares they own in those companies. You announce that you have attempted to forecast this recent flurry of market activity as you unroll a long strip of paper (‘ticker tape”) which reveals the names of the companies and the total number of shares in each that are held by participant number one. a second strip does the same for the second volunteer’s “purchases”. You will be positively surprised when you learn how easily the effect is accomplished.
