Wolfgang Grosskopf is a German magician and game inventor that grew up in the German Democratic Republic before Germany was re-united. He is often considered one of the fathers of storytelling Close-Up magic in Germany. His best known creation is probably the “Subtrunk for Playing cards” & his “Ringtower”. He designed other Close-Up props in very small quantities.
This rare piece is hallmarked “WG” and is made from a plastic material that was available at the time in the GDR.
We are providing a copy of the German instructions together with a short English explanation.
This was Grosskopf’s response to David Copperfield vanishing a train car in a TV special at the time. Not to be done Grosskopf made an entire train disappear ….. well sort off. With this into a card depicting a train is introduced as well as an open faced frame.
To pleasant patter the train card is inserted into the frame and suddenly the train disappears and the card is left only showing the empty train track.
The card is approx. 4 3/8″ by 3 1/8″ in size.
A very nice and hard to find Close-Up collectible built to last!
