Here is another goodie from Japan’s now defunct Tricks Co.
This falls under the early wooden magic props that were often made by Mikame for Tricks Co., although the screen print job of the frame was rather sloppy on this one. Not a problem for the performance and the collector knows that these do not come up every day.
The spirit slates are a trick that is well known amongst magicians. Two slates are placed together face to face and a secret message appears. I always liked the Spirit slate (yes, non plural) a little better and the Tricks Co. version is a fine example. You show the slate from both sides and insert it into an envelope (sheet of newspaper or cloth) that can be examined (there is really nothing in it at all! It is even OK if the slate does not go all the way inside and remains visible at all times.
Then a card is selected from a deck and lost back into the deck, when the slate is taken from the envelope the ghost has now written “You selected the 3 of Clubs” (or whatever card you decide).
Can basically be used in connection with most spirit slate effects. The fact that only one slate is used makes this more convincing in my opinion.
The picture shows the side of the slate where they messed up the silk screen print a little (see bottom right), the other side does not have this problem.
There are no instructions included but I will provide a short English write-up to describe the method used. The Tricks Co. Black and Red Box is included. Supply your own envelope!
Get this before someone else….we have only one of them
