Many versions of this trick are out there, many use an un-gimmicked rope.
Pavel supplies a rope with two magnet joints, which allow you to start and end with one “solid” piece of rope.
If you know Pavel’s magnet work you will want this.
Personally I would use this for a different trick as it does not add much to the Professor’s Nightmare plot.
