Dice Bomb Plus is a well known beginner’s trick. It is my go to when I am asked what a really young magician can do. My own son enjoyed this trick at a very young age, we are talking 4 or 5 years old. It is a trick that is easy to comprehend and works automatically. Of course at that age (or younger) you can not leave them unattended as it contains very small parts that could be a choking hazard. He would do this over and over and amuse himself.
A large black dice is seen in a transparent box. With a little shake it explodes into eight tiny colored dice which can be passed out for examination.
Now with this Dice Bomb Plus you get a very interesting and mysterious addition where a clear plate is introduced which could be placed on top of the open dice bomb (or a small drinking glass for that matter). In the middle of this plate a solid red die is placed and on top of it another transparent plastic plate. The magician lightly tabs on top and the red dice falls into the glass. Both plates can be shown closely to the audience. This second effect reminds me a little bit of Tenyo’s Squeeze Play but is easier to handle and the transparent plates add to the illusion. Squeeze Play is where you place a large black die in a transparent box. With a little shake it explodes into eight tiny colored dice which are passed out for examination and is based on a Tricks Co., Japan item that predates the Tenyo version.
If you are like me you give the dice bomb to a kid to play with (under supervision) and you keep the Penetration effect in your Close-Up case. Yes, I think it is that strong.
