This goes back to an idea by UF Grant, quality product by Jay Leslie!
Note: The video demo by Jay Leslie depicts the pocket version, not the slightly bigger version sold here!
An 8 X10 clear rectangular sheet of acrylic is slid into a folder, both the top and bottom can be seen at all times, as seen in the photo.
(The original version uses a knitting needle and ribbon. The current version uses an Ice Pick. The effect is basically the same)
The clear sheet is shown to be solid, on both sides. An Ice Pick penetrates through three evenly spaced holes in the sleeve and thu the solid acrylic, as seen on the picture. When the acrylic sheet is again removed from the sleeve there are no holes seen, the sheet is solid.
I believe the Ice Pick version looks better because all the parts are shown separate before and after the penetration however, in the desire to be complete, the Needle instructions are included. You can actually perform both versions if you have back-to-back shows. (not shown is the Ice Pick which has a simple red handle and is not an overly exaggerated shape.
I’ve performed this effect at the corporate level as the second routine after the opener, much the same way you’d perform a newspaper tear.
I’ve also performed this at elementary and high schools using the patter link of keeping your eyes on me, don’t talk to your friend or you might miss something. It’s fast paced. Since this has been off the market several years, you’re not only going to fool spectators but a good portion of magicians will also give you a nod.
