Earth, Moon & Sun – Derek Rutt

This is a wonderful routine for your children’s show…….. not only has it a lovely shouting reaction from the children but it is also an educational routine about the environment and pollution. As in the picture you have the earth on one side and the moon on the other side and the sun in the middle . You tell the children that the earth needs the sun to keep us warm and to make things grow ,and if we make the atmosphere dirty it will block the sun out and the earth will get very cold. So you explain that at night time the sun hides around the other side of the earth. At this point the sun rolls behind the moon……but you do not see it. You say that …there you are the sun has gone behind the earth ….the children will very quickly tell you that the sun is behind the moon…..no you say and you lift up the earth and OH DEAR ! the sun is not there …..this must be because there is too much dirt in the air and you cannot see it ….once again the children will tell you it is behind the moon…..but as you go to lift up the moon the SUN rolls over behind the earth. You can do this many many times and the children will scream…….until one time the sun comes out all black and dirty ….so once again after much rolling back and forth you do some magic and restore the sun to its shiny self ….a great routine with a bit of everything and the dirty air ends up on your back !!!!!!!
