The performer displays a rod, which has a red string at each end. One tag has a picture of a boy, the other has a picture of a girl.
The performer tells about an Asian myth, in which lovers are connected by invisible red string.
When the performer pulls the boy tag down, the girl tag rises as if they are connected. But then it is revealed that the center part of the rod is transparent, so the audience can clearly see that there is no connection between the two tags.
By swapping the pictures his could be used to demonstrate that what goes up must come down and there are also good possibilities in a gospel performance. In a trade show it could be used to illustrate how different products of a company complement each other etc.
Instead of pictures other items could be attached to the clips.
This large rod does not come apart, the transparent middle which is revealed serves as proof that there is seemingly no connection.
