There are many finger, arm, hand guillotines on the market and this one goes back to a Japanese version. The beauty is that it can be given to the audience for inspection without any fear of the secret being discovered, simply because there is no preparation of any sort. I know my mother told me the same thing: “If it sounds to good to be true…..” well in this case it sounds good and is true.
The prop has four round holes on the top (for the fingers of your lucky helper) and a small round hole towards the bottom for a cigarette or similar soft object. You also receive a “knife” in the style of a letter opener. The knife is inserted and protrudes both left and right from the prop. When the knife is pushed down it can be followed on the sides as well as thru the openings.
Place something in the openings and it will be cut in half when the knife is pushed down.
Now you get a spectator to place his fingers thru the holes at the top, in the bottom hole goes a cigarette. Even the blade can be seen on either side while being pushed down thankfully the fingers are left unharmed while the cigarette is cut in half.
Immediately the knife is pulled out and all can be examined.
Great magic that is suited well for Close-up and parlor shows.
There is nothing to set-up, nothing to hide and yet it all works like a charm.
