Werner Geissler – Werry was not only the publisher of the German magazine “Magische Welt” he was also a well known magic inventor and manufacturer. He was amongst the first using modern plastic manufacturing techniques like injection molding and vacuum forming in the magic industry. His “Schwarze Fessel” is an interesting effect. Because everything is small and flat it could easily be carried in one’s pocket. There are similarities to “Ribbon Fantastique”, I feel that the effect of Werry’s creation is even more surprising. The magician introduces three plastic pieces. Two are flat (one yellow one blue) and one is a black vacuum formed piece that fits over the two flat ones. All have four holes in them. A ribbon is also introduced. The two flat pieces are now placed under the black piece and the ribbon is threated thru the four holes. The spectator now selects freely one of the two colors, let’s assume yellow…..the stack is placed on the spectators hand and then lifted by the ribbon, the yellow plate has freed itself and remains on the spectators hand, while the blue plate is still attached to the back piece with the ribbon. The colored plates are approx. 1 5/8″ x 5″
