The Effect:

Present a seemingly ordinary, solid mirror to your audience, clearly displaying both sides. To prove its solidity, tap the mirror all over its surface with a wand, pen, or pencil – on both sides – demonstrating there are no holes or openings. Next, take a silk scarf and use it to clean the mirror. As you wipe, the scarf begins to visibly penetrate the center of the glass!

With half the scarf through, turn the mirror around, showing both sides with the scarf magically sticking out the opposite end. Then, facing the audience with the opposite side, continue to pull the scarf completely through and free of the mirror! The penetration happens right before their eyes.
