Wow….I have seen a lot of items that were devised by Magiro and this one is definitely amongst the most clever ones…released thru Eckhart Boettcher.
The performer introduces a small tray that has a round holder in the middle. He explains that he will place a die into the holder and then cover it with a lid. The die will serve as the magicians prediction.
Next a spectator is asked to name any of the six sides of the die or he could roll another dice to arrive at a number (really, it is completely free which of the sides is named). When the lid is removed it is seen that the selected number of the die is pointing up. The die is completely normal.
If you would like to tie this into a larger routine you could borrow six different every day objects and assign them numbers from 1 to 6. One of the objects could then be chosen and the die reveals that you predicted this object. If you do not like the fact that the die has numbers on each side you could cover them with small decals depicting objects.
The tray is extremely thin but yet holds the mechanical secrets that make this possible. It can still be shown from all sides without raising suspicion.
Super clever!
