If you collect mental magic effects using clocks (and I know a lot of you do!), or simply appreciate ingenious mechanical apparatus, this is one to consider.
There have been quite a few time “divinations” on the market over the years, so it’s great to offer a time “prediction” which is unlike most you’ve ever seen.
Briefly, the performer displays a wooden cabinet with a clock face on the front. There is a hand which can be turned freely by the spectator in either direction, no restrictions.
They turn the hand and then stop wherever they want.
Immediately the performer lifts the front dial from the cabinet exposing a second clock face mounted two inches behind the one in the front.
Amazingly, the hand on the second dial is set to the exact same position set on the front clock by the spectator.
And the kicker is….the clock’s hand is seen to be secured in place with a piece of duct tape! Obviously the performer had locked in his prediction well in advance by duct taping the pointer to the clock dial!
Very clever design and mechanics. This is one you’ll have fun performing as there are no electronics that could go wrong. No batteries to wear out. The spectator simply turns the front clock hand and stops anywhere. You remove the front clock dial and show your prediction.
A perfect replication of the original Magiro model, but we eliminated the more ornate stand the clock rested on to make the piece appear simpler, like a child’s teaching aid or a store “back again at” type sign.
Magiro’s original also had a very uniform looking piece of red shiny tape to hold the hand down at the end. We changed this to a more realistic appearing gray duct tape….like you simply tore a piece from the roll to secure your prediction.
The clock is app. 8″ x 8″ x 2″ deep. A nice size that’s easy to handle but could be seen from parlor or small stage.
