This is a great find for both the working magician and collector.
It was invented by Louis S. Histead and sold thru Harry Stanley’s “Unique Magic Studio”, here is the original advertising:
“A new principle, a clever gimmick and an eye appealing prop all go together to make this an item that is truly out of the ordinary. A gleaming transparent plastic rod about 2.5” long is passed for examination. Two cards are then selected from an ordinary deck by two different spectators. A third and completely unknowing spectator (no stooges) is asked to invoke the powers of the “Eye of Cyclops” and he gazes intently into the plastic rod and proceeds to name the names of both choosen cards.
Remember that any member of the audience can name the cards instantly although he was nowhere near the spectator who selected the card. Plastic rod is again passed for examination at the end of effect. Possibilities are endless!
A mental effect that is different. Complete with plastic rod and routine.”
I must admit I really like this one. Do you do a big show but don’t like bulky props? Well, this is for you …. all you need is a deck of cards (not provided) and the little rod that fits in nearly every pocket.
“Eye of the Cyclops” plays just as strong today as when it was released. Comes with copy of English instructions.
